A little introduction to me, the person behind Simply Mourne!
Hey, since I have a bunch of lovely new customers, I thought it would be nice to jump on here and write a little blog to introduce myself!
My name is Catherine, and I am the person behind the elegantly crafted artworks here at Simply Mourne. I am a wife, a mother to two amazing boys who are currently 18 & 8. Our eldest has a dog called Molly, which if you follow my stories on social, you will have had the chance to see her! She is adorable!
The business started as a hobby a number of years ago, when I decided to take a career break. It’s funny, I was so creative at school, winning awards and dreaming of heading off to art college, then I ended up in a career in Credit Management.
Back at home, supporting our children through challenging times at school, my creativity and artistic vibe came flowing back with ease. It was then that Mourne Pebble came alive and I felt so energised! Back to doing what I truly love doing!
I attended lots of amazing craft fairs, which quickly led onto shows like Love Your Home Show, Belfast & Dublin. I attended Gifted from Ireland in the RDS Dublin, and then recently showcased my work in front of buyers in the RDS Dublin.
Synergy Studios, in Newcastle, County Down was my first stockist. This is the area where the Mountains of Mourne reach down to the sea; the very place which inspired me to create the current collection. From that day on, the number of outlets that my work is available in, started to grow. Dotted throughout Ireland, from Born in Bred in Belfast to Mrs Teas Boutique at Ashford Castle, Cong, you will be sure to find a stockist close by.
For those who have never experienced the Mourne coastline, it is a gem of a place to visit. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty based along the County Down coastline. Here is photo showing the town of Newcastle which is nestled at the base of the mountains. I have such fond memories here over the years, from childhood until now, having lots of fun on the beach, mountain hikes, ice-cream and eating fabulous fish and chips whilst listening to the waves crash against the shoreline!
When I think about here, I always think about all the happy memories shared with our family. I had to have a family piece as part of the Mourne Collection!
